Court delays watchdog’s 58.7 bln rbl suit against NTEK till Dec 24

KRASNOYARSK, Nov 3 (PRIME) -- The Krasnoyarsk Arbitration Court delayed on Wednesday hearing of a 58.7 billion ruble suit filed by the Federal Fisheries Agency against Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company (NTEK) until December 24, according to information obtained by PRIME.

The case was initially delayed until Wednesday to allow the participants to work on an amicable deal.

A fuel tank at the premises of NTEK, a subsidiary of metals giant Norilsk Nickel lost pressure in 2020, and leaked out 21,000 tonnes of fuel and lubricants into the river Ambarnaya, causing fire. In 2021, the Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Region almost completely satisfied a suit of the Federal Service for Natural Resources Oversight against Norilsk Nickel, obliging the company to pay 146.2 billion rubles for the fuel spill.

The Federal Fisheries Agency filed a separate suit against NTEK over the death of fish and the cost of recovery of aquatic biological resources in the region.
